Black Bear waiting for Dinner
Every Autumn Pink and Coho salmon run up the creeks to spawn in traditional Kwakwaka'wakw territory on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The local bears come to this area to intercept the salmon in order to fatten up for winter. They are very tolerant of respectful local wildlife observers and this bear was waiting to catch a salmon swimming up the creek. I used a high resolution digital camera with a 200 to 500 mm telephoto lens to capture this moment.
